Is there a fee for search & rescue?

No, citizens will never pay a fee to activate search & rescue teams.  It works the same as calling the police.  Donations are appreciated, but payment is not a necessity.

Can I personally request SAR to perform a search for a person/pet who is missing?

No, search & rescue teams operate much like a business whose only customer is the Flathead County Sheriff's Office.  Search & Rescue will only deploy at the request of the sheriff's office once a call has been made to 911 or through a mutual aid request.

Will Search & Rescue train my dog?

While the County does have a K9 team that is called in for searches, SAR does not train dogs. Please contact Flathead K9 Foundation for more information.

Will Search & Rescue give a presentation at my organization or school?

Yes, Search & Rescue members love what they do and are happy to share with others.  Please contact us with details.
